High quality care. Thoughtful support.

Meet Colin and Tina
Valley Counselling and Psychotherapy Services was founded by Tina Carby (RSW, MSW) and Colin Ellis (Registered Psychotherapist) in 2020. They provide counselling to Arnprior and Renfrew County.
Colin and Tina have dreamed of opening a practice that could offer high-quality counselling services since soon after they met in 2016. Tina has lived in Arnprior since 2011, and Colin has worked there since 2016. Prior to starting Valley CPS they split their time between counselling work in Arnprior at a primary care clinic, and providing quality private practice care in Stittsville, ON. They quickly became aware of a lack of local professional mental health support in Arnprior and created Valley CPS in order to fill that gap. Their goal is to use their extensive experience to make mental health support accessible and local to Renfrew County, while maintaining the support they already provide.
RP, M.Ed., C.C.C.
I am a graduate of the University of Ottawa's Counselling Psychology program. I am a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, as well as being a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). I have been working to provide clients with the support they need in primary care and private settings since 2016. I have extensive training, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE) for PTSD, and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I incorporate skills from a number of therapy models, but am most immersed in CBT and attachment approaches.
As a therapist I will hear your story and then collaborate with you to find out how to shift you into the person you want to become. Change starts with a ripple, and when you dip your toe in at your first counselling session you can expect kindness, useful tools and a listening ear. Regardless of what brings you to therapy, I'm excited to see how we can work together to get you on the path to wellness and change.
I look forward to speaking with you about your first step to mental wellness. I see individuals aged 16 and up. I am a registered Blue Cross provider. I practice independently and am unable to provide services under the supervision of a psychologist.

Seeking support for mental health concerns is not an easy thing to do. Whether you are looking for support for yourself alone, yourself and your partner, or for your family, allow me to share in your journey of mental wellness. It is a gift I do not take lightly. As a social worker, I'm dedicated to providing a safe space for you to explore the concerns you have addressed, and set goals to achieve them. Sometimes we are clear in what we need to work on and sometimes we need help in figuring it out.
